Discussion:
[selenium-developers] Sponsorship and other links off the project site

Hi folks,

Two questions:

1/ I note that a lot of PRs for the site
<https://github.com/SeleniumHQ/www.seleniumhq.org/pulls> are people adding
references to their own selenium work to the index.jsp. We used to do this
in the old days, but should we continue to do this, especially since we now
have the sponsorship page <https://www.seleniumhq.org/sponsors/>.

2/ The sponsorship page is a bit of a free-for-all. Notably, it has links
to things that some people might have objections to (notably online
casinos, but that's not the only example). Do we, as a project, want to put
in place a policy about the kinds of sponsors that we'd like. I believe
that some of the other SFC projects already have such a policy.

Your thoughts please, people. I'm saving my opinions until the discussion
has started, but I think anyone who knows me will already have guessed
where I stand :)

Cheers,

Simon

Ten years ago SFC were worried that too much revenue was coming in via ads,
if I recall.

If we were to list the companies that are listed for commercial
possibilities, we could set some standards as to logos, language, claims,
links back to SeHQ, credit, and more. We could do so even if we chose not
not seek sponsorship from the same listed companies.

How many of these sponsors are actively silver? Who maintains the sponsor
list/date of sponsorship? Per our policy we move people down a level every
6 months.
